For The Bed & Biscuit’s owner Vicky, dogs have been a big part of her life for more than 40 years. From her first childhood fur-pal “Tony” (a Boxer) to “Corby” (a Poodle) and Oye (a Pekinese) to “Angus” (a Sydney Silky) and “Champion” (aka MPS Gideon - Racing Greyhound). Today her family includes, husband Jim and adopted Greyhound-fur-kid Monty (aka Duke Mantee).
After Angus passed away Vicky and Jim decided to look into the adoption of rescue dogs. Her childhood memories of stories that her grandfather adopted a retired greyhound, (named Harkunda) in the late 1920’s early ‘30’s Vicky began researching the breed and the adoption process. She and Jim quickly fell in love with this sighthound.
With the adoption of their first greyhound, “Champion” impassioned by the ‘Adoption’ need, Vicky soon dedicated countless hours to “greyhound charity” and created a website dedicated to finding the littermates of adopted retired racing greyhounds.
Having a life-long dream of operating her own business, she knew without question it had to focus on or around dogs. So she took a job with a local pet store and soon found herself working 7 days a week in an effort to learn every aspect of the business.
The Bed & Biscuit Doggie Daycare, Boarding & Spa was born out of a desire to provide the caliber of daycare & boarding Vicky had searched for, and wanted available to her own dogs in her absence. An ‘adequate’ facility was simply not good enough. The Bed & Biscuit is a home away from home for her charges.
Vicky, Jim and their greyhound Monty, reside in an on-premises apartment and with Jim’s Fine Art Photography Studio also on-premises, this dog-dedicated family can offer 24-7 boarding!
As a resident of downtown Toronto for more than twenty years and an established member of this neighborhood for the past twelve years, Vicky is well known and respected within the local (dog) community.
